Uncanny X-Men #538 Cover Inks and Work in Progress Colors

Here's Rachel's ink and the Work In Progress Colors version of the cover.

Rachel used a Windson Newton Series 7 #2 Sable Brush and FW Acrylic Ink on Strathmore Bristol Board.

I colored the art in Photoshop CS3 with Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet.

I will post the final version of the colors later.

This book ships in June.

Emerald City Comic Con Sketch 7 - Abbey Chase

Abbey Chase, from the Danger Girl comic book, a convention sketch drawn at Emerald City Comic Con, March 2011.

I think was the first time I had drawn this character, so I tried to pick a really fun scenario.

This was the 7th sketch I did at the convention, but the first not drawn on the colored Canson Pastel Paper I use regularly but on white paper, so I had to readjust how I would have to apply the pencils, black markers and especially the grey value Copic Markers on the fly - but that's fun and challenge of doing con sketches. And it was in a sketchbook and it was only 8.5 x 11".

Original art is drawn in a 8.5 x 11" sketchbook with Col Erase Light Blue Pencil, Staedtler HB Lead, Black Copic Multiliners 05 and 08 Markers, Pitt "XS" "S" "M" Markers, Copic Warm Grey 0-9 Markers, and White and Henna Prismacolors Pencils.

Emerald City Comic Con Sketch 5 - Elektra

Commission sketch #5 drawn at the Emerald City Comic Con (March 2011), Elektra!

I haven't drawn too many Elektra's so I googled her costume and there were so many variations, I shut it down and drew it out of my head!

Original art is drawn on 12" x 16" Canson Pastel Paper with Col Erase Light Blue Pencil, Staedtler HB Lead, Black Copic Multiliners 05 and 08 Markers, Pitt "XS" "S" "M" Markers, Copic Warm Grey 0-9 Markers, and White Prismacolor Pencil.

Emerald City Comic Con Sketch 4 - Rogue

Here's commission sketch #4 drawn at the Emerald City Comic Con (March 2011), Rogue from the X-Men.

Drew a kind of modified costume because the fan said whatever costume for her so I played it safe! ;-)

Original art is drawn on 12" x 16" Canson Pastel Paper with Col Erase Light Blue Pencil, Staedtler HB Lead, Black Copic Multiliners 05 and 08 Markers, Pitt "XS" "S" "M" Markers, Copic Warm Grey 0-9 Markers, and White and Henna Prismacolors Pencil.

Emerald City Comic Con Sketch 3

On to commission sketch #3 drawn at the Emerald City Comic Con (March 2011).

Funny, the fan for who I drew the sketch actually collects sketches with the characters reading! I had no idea, it was a picture I had in my own head for a while and it was a good excuse to draw it!

Original art is drawn on 12" x 16" Canson Pastel Paper with Col Erase Light Blue Pencil, Staedtler HB Lead, Black Copic Multiliners 05 and 08 Markers, Pitt "XS" "S" "M" Markers, Copic Warm Grey 0-9 Markers, and White and Henna Prismacolors Pencils.

Emerald City Comic Con Sketch 1 - Black Cat

Here's my fist sketch from the Emerald City Comic Con (March 2011) featuring Black Cat. Always fun to draw, but this one's a little stiff as I had about a million interruptions (which is cool - I'm at the show for the fans!) while drawing the first day of the show and ended up having to finish in the morning before the show the next day.

Original art is drawn on 12" x 16" Canson Pastel Paper with Col Erase Light Blue Pencil, Staedtler HB Lead, Black Copic Multiliners 05 and 08 Markers, Pitt "XS" "S" "M" Markers, Copic Warm Grey 0-9 Markers, and White and Henna Prismacolors Pencils.

More to come,
