Here's a look at how we made the Superwoman #2 cover

COVER SKETCH

My initial sketches for the cover submitted to DC Comics. This featured the new Superwoman... tricky!

Roughs were drawn at 2" x 3" in my sketchbook using Warm Grey Copics then colored in Photoshop CS3.

Drawn in Light Blue and HB lead on 12" x 18" Bristol Board .

Suicide Squad #1 Cover Step by Step Part 2 Color

Here's a look at how we made the cover-

So this is what the art looks like before I start coloring!

FLATS

The first stage of color is called flats - flatting allows me to choose an area to color at any point throughout the coloring process.

I just colored the Harley Quinn #1 cover so just grabbed colors from that for the flats.

Initial colors 

I put my painterly "Leyendecker" background first and switch Joker to a more subtle purple.

Initial Rough In

I colored this on my Cintiq 22 HD using Photoshop CS3 .

Detail

I did a lot of coloring at this stage - adding the  lights and darks on all areas of the art.

Used the Pencil tool at this point.

Playing the background

At this point I like to color the line art...

I begin coloring the Hair and Flesh Line Art

Then I switch the background one final time and darken up the values on Joker and render Harley's outfit a bit!

Time to work on the new trademark Harley Hair!

And voila - done!

I'm returning to New York City for NYCC 2016! Rachel Dodson will NOT be attending the show.

WHERE/WHEN

I will be at Artist Alley Table D18 - same EXACT location at last year!

SCHEDULE/APPEARANCES

 I will be at the table most of the show.

SIGNING

I will be signing books/comics/statues/etc at my booth.
First 5 signatures are free, and then we will charge $1 a signature after and $5 for a Witnessed Signature.

COMMISSION SKETCHES

I will take sketch requests from the start of the show Thursday until the end of the day.

I will write down all names HOWEVER I will be choosing myself who's sketch I'm drawing and if you had a sketch recently I won't be doing you a sketch so I can try to get sketches down for fans who I haven't done sketches for. I will decide on the sketches I will ATTEMPT do at the show by 12PM Friday and inform everyone then if they are the list.

COVER SKETCH

My initial sketches for the cover submitted to DC Comics and Dynamic Forces. I chose to do this assignment as another chance to draw Harley - so don't blame anyone but me if you wanted to see the rest of the Suicide Squad!

Roughs were drawn at 2" x 3" in my sketchbook using Warm Grey Copics then colored in Photoshop CS3.

 The revised covers sketches with Joker added per Dynamites request!

Details of Rachel's ink - and you'll notice Joker holding a bomb - that was a request by Dynamic Forces - the cell phone joke was too subtle.
